Help the Flood Victims

Most of us are aware through media reports that Bihar, Assam and other States of the Country are facing a great disaster due to the massive flood in Different Place of Different States. According to the latest media information the calamity has claimed vast number of lives & millions of people have been displaced, millions of hectare of standing crops has been ruined. There is an acute scarceness of drinking water especially in submerged areas with total destruction of food stock/houses & people facing many other difficulties making life a struggle. More & more macabre accounts are being unfolded in the media day after day. Considering the potency of the floods & damages caused thereof the Prime minister has declared it a national calamity. A few highlights of the devastation caused by the calamity are-


Some of the worst affected Districts are Supaul, Madhepura, Purnia, Khagaria, Araria, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Katihar etc.

Over 30 lakhs (3 million) people are affected & uprooted from their homes.               Separated from Their families, property livestock & everything In Madhepura district 11 out of 13 blocks including Madhepura town are submerged under 6-ft deep water Government of Bihar is falling short of rescuing people trapped in excessive floodwaters. Rescue & relief workers are inaccessible to far remote villages Roads, highways; rail tracks are all submerged & damaged. Therefore boats remain the only means of rescue, but the Government doesn’t have the sufficient number of boats.  Those who have somehow saved their lives or been rescued are staying at the nearest dry places: railway stations, school buildings & other public places. They need immediate help in terms of food, temporary shelter, clothes, medicines, etc.

All India Unani Medical Association, Jan Samaj Kalyan Samiti & Hamdard University Alumni Association in collaboration with several organizations in Bihar & other States has decided to contribute in relief, rehabilitation, & reconstruction process in Bihar. We have formed three teams of committed social development workers & volunteers for delivering the relief material to the flood victims wherever they have been staying at the moment. Our national team based at Delhi / Patna coordinates the relief work and fundraising, while the state team executes the actual relief work.
